Good Reading

Haiku FridayIn the lush quiet
of my private hotel room
I sat down to read.

No children yelling.
No household chores, no husband.
Stillness and a book.

I read Shelli's work.
Transformed through her vivid words,
I'm fifteen again.

I read marta's work.
Red's the color for lying.
The words make me swoon.

I brought another
but the author's still working.
Sh! It's a secret!

Willowgreen didn't come,
because I read on her blog.
Young vampire love!

In my silent room
your craft with words overwhelms.
Should I be surprised?

  3. Oh and by the way, your words make me think. I can't begin to say how often I read something here and find myself thinking about it the next day and even the next, wishing for someone to talk to about it.

I just sometimes find it difficult to start the conversation with, "So, I read this blog about sex addiction..." Sure I could say "parenting" but that doesn't get anyone's attention.

marta, I have the same problem with my blog -- I can't mention it to most people and it's really hard for me not to talk about blogging, since I spend so much time on it!

  6. What a treat! Thank you!!

In response to your and Marta's comments, wouldn't it be great if we could all meet up somewhere someday? It's sure hard for me to find people to talk about blogging with too! (Guess that's why I blog.)

And I second Marta's thoughts: you write so well and you write thought-provoking posts.

  8. Ooh, did you like my vampire story? I had so much fun writing it, but in typical fashion, I'm now rapidly losing momentum for going back and finishing it. Please prod me!

  9. I find it sad that you can't talk about your blog because I see you as a pioneer, MPJ, and pioneers shouldn't have to remain hidden.

I get the need to respect your family's right to privacy, but, for what it's worth, I don't see your blog as being a blog about sex addiction. It's a blog about personal growth and recovery.

Even as I say that, I recall the first time I visited your blog and saw, OMG, "sex addict" in your description, I hit the back button in panic. I would ask "what was I afraid of" except we know what...

So my thought is that perhaps the people in your life that you imagine would be critical (if you were to come out in the open) are the people with the problem, i.e., your marketing territory. :)

    Love you, MPJ.
